Sail Guided charters FAQ's:
Our sail guides can be added to your bareboat charter or a flotilla charter for your entire trip.
Sail guides can come in handy in many different ways, and can assist with a number of roles during your charter. Sail guides should be considered if you have less than the required sailing experience or even if it has been a few years and you wish to have some additional guidance for peace of mind.
In some overseas areas you may hire a ‘Skipper’ to take complete control of the vessel. However in the Whitsundays you will still be the Skipper and your Sail Guide will be used as assistance only.
Can I do any sailing myself?
You can do as much or as little as you like during your charter with a sail guide. You are the skipper and your sail guide is there to assist you in a number of different ways on board, and are highly recommended if you have minimal sailing or boating experience. Or even if it has been a good few years since you were at the helm. A sail guide can also benefit you if you have been hoisting your own sails for decades and just want a little support with some of the more physical aspects of keeping a yacht moving under sail.
Where will our sail guide sleep?
Sail guides must be allocated a stern cabin to themselves for the duration of your charter.
What/How do we feed our sail guides?
You must cater for your sail guide during your charter. If you plan to eat out and you do not wish to include your sail guide, just provide them with a meal or pocket money to purchase their own.
If you are concerned about meeting the sail guides dietary preferences, give our sales team a call and they will be able to assist you.
What does the sail guide do in the evening?
Your sail guide can join in on the group activities, or enjoy their own time in their cabin reading a book and enjoying their evening. It is completely up to you if you wish for them to spend time with the group.
